After the reported addition of Harrison Barnes to the roster, and now Irving, Team USA has enough reported confirmations to fill out a 12-man roster. It would go as follows:
Guards: Irving, Kyle Lowry (Raptors), Klay Thompson (Warriors), DeMar DeRozan (Raptors), Jimmy Butler (Bulls)
Forwards: Carmelo Anthony (Knicks), Kevin Durant (Thunder), Paul George (Pacers), Draymond Green (Warriors), Harrison Barnes (Warriors)
Centers: DeMarcus Cousins (Kings), DeAndre Jordan (Clippers)
Irving is fresh off of his championship with the Cavaliers, and will have a chance to lead Team USA to another gold medal. His teammate LeBron James won’t compete with Team USA this summer. Other notable remissions are Chris Paul, Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, Damian Lillard, James Harden, and John Wall at guard, making Irving the clear leader at the position. Irving was MVP of the 2014 World Cup and led Team USA to a gold medal.
Team USA will be announcing the final roster for the Olympics on Monday.
