As we approach the 2016 NBA Draft, we’re going to start to get an idea for what the outcome might be, but as we’ve seen in Draft’s before, anything can happen. Providence Guard Kris Dunn is hoping to force his luck and land his way onto the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota has the 5th overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft and they’ve made it apparent they’re looking to draft a point-guard.
According to John Gambadoro of Sports Radio Talk 98.7 Arizona:
Hearing Providence point guard Kris Dunn wants to go to Minnesota, will not work out for Phoenix or share medical records.

It’s obvious that Dunn doesn’t want to go somewhere with an established point guard already in Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight, which makes the 5th and 6th pick of the draft’s interesting for Dunn. Minnesota does already have Ricky Rubio as they’re point guard, but there’s been a lot of speculation about his future with the team. With Tom Thibodeau running the team now, the direction of the team will become more defensive minded, and Dunn could potentially become a defensive threat. The New Orleans Pelicans have the 6th pick and there’s space for development of a point guard there because of the lack of depth in the backcourt for them. It would be interesting to see which young and talented point guard gets drafted first, Jamal Murray or him. Both pose different things for teams drafting them. Dunn the more explosive and quick point guard vs. Murray who has more range. We’ll find out in 19 days!
