Phil Jackson and the Knicks want to hire either Brian Shaw or Luke Walton, and we know that one of them is interested in the job. Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News tweeted shortly after the Knicks’ fired Derek Fisher:
Source close to Brian Shaw says he’d love to take the Knicks job and would be a great fit alongside Phil Jackson.

Brian Shaw is not the only coach that is interested in the job, as Ian O’Connor of ESPN tweeted:
Source close to Tom Thibodeau: “The #Knicks are the job he’s always wanted. He would crawl to Madison Square Garden.”

It will be much easier for Shaw to get the job than Thibodeau, but Thibodeau would probably be the better choice for the Knicks over Shaw. Brian Shaw was fired by the Nuggets last season because he was not able to communicate with his players very well. Thibodeau, who was fired by the Bulls at the end of last season, would be able to communicate with coaches better than Shaw. He has been more successful as a coach in the NBA, and he is a mastermind on defense.
The only problem with hiring Thibodeau is that Jackson likely will not hire someone who he doesn’t know (in the past, he has only wanted to hire his former players). While Shaw did not do well in Denver, maybe Phil could help him out a bit with his players in New York, making Shaw a great coach to lead the Knicks. If neither of these guys work, Dennis Rodman is always available:
Hey @PhilJackson11 @nyknicks, I have a pretty decent resume on the court and I can coach; and I’m available. Call me. @nba
