Lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis may only have ten professional fights under his belt, but he’s already looking for a shot at a world title. During recent interview with Boxing Scene, the Virginia native mentioned the possibility of stepping in the ring with newly-crowned world champion Denys Berinchyk.
“I would love to fight and beat Berinchyk and take his belt away from him,” Davis told Manouk Akopyan of Boxing Scene.
“I hope he is willing to fight me. … I feel nobody can beat me. I am one of the best at 135 pounds. Pedraza made me show the world that I am one of the best. I am ready to fight anybody. It’s just a matter of when I can get a belt or a bigger name in the ring.”
Before Davis can make his way into the ring with Denys Berinchyk, he’ll have to fight Miguel Madueno at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, July 6. As of July 1, he was listed as a -4000 betting favorite by Draftkings Sports, but the lightweight contender is not overlooking his opponent. While confident, he has described his next opponent as powerful, active and tough.
“He has power and likes to throw a lot of punches, but I’ll be fighting differently and smarter,” Davis explained.
“He’s tough and is coming to fight. He’s going to bring the fight to me. It’s going to be a crowd-pleasing fight that ends in my favor. I never have a problem with confidence. The Pedraza fight taught me a whole lot about myself. I got a lot better off of that fight. I feel bad for Miguel.”
