Kevin Love was having a spectacular year in his third season as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He was tearing it up as of late and locked in his first NBA All-Star selection since his days with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Unfortunately for the reserve Eastern Conference All-Star, he will have to miss the 2017 NBA All-Star game. Love will undergo a knee surgery, and he’s expected to miss six weeks.
The Cavs announced his surgery in a press release.
Cavaliers forward and 2017 NBA All-Star Kevin Love underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body from his left knee this morning at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. The procedure was performed by Dr. David Altchek with Dr. James Rosneck of the Cleveland Clinic present. Love will now undergo a period of rest and rehabilitation and his return to play is estimated at approximately six weeks. His status will be updated as appropriate.
The load of the Cavs now falls back on LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. The unfortunate thing is LeBron James leads the league in minutes, and he’s been looking for some extra help. Derrick Williams did recently sign with the team, but it’s very unlikely that he’s going to be the difference maker the Cavs need to push forward towards the playoffs.
