
On Monday, June 9, 2025, Kendrick Lamar added yet another trophy to his collection. The Compton native’s latest project, GNX, won Album of the Year at the 2025 BET Awards. The chart-topping LP bested a a number of critically-acclaimed projects, including $ome $exy $ongs 4 U by Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR, 11:11 by Chris Brown, Alligator Bites Never Heal by Doechii, Cowboy Carter by Beyoncé, Glorious by GloRilla, Hurry Up Tomorrow by The Weeknd and We Don’t Trust You by Future and Metro Boomin’.
Kendrick Lamar isn’t the only TDE artist, past or present, to take home an award at the 2025 BET Awards. SZA, who is also performing alongside Lamar during the Grand National Tour, won Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Doechii also took home the BET Award for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist. To top it all off, Lamar’s West Coast predecessor Dr. Dre presented the BET Ultimate Icon Award to Long Beach legend Snoop Dogg.
After taking home Album of the Year honors, Lamar will hit the road yet again. He, SZA and Mustard are set to perform at Ford Field in Detroit on June 10 and Rogers Center in Toronto, Ontario on June 12 and June 13. The North American leg of the tour will conclude the following week with shows in Pennsylvania and Maryland.
