On Tuesday, Charlotte Hornets All-Star point guard Kemba Walker expressed his frustration with his team being out of the playoff race. From Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer:
“At this point, I want to win. I want to be in the playoffs,” Walker told the Observer on Monday morning. “I’m tired of not being in the playoffs. … I hate watching them on TV.
“I’ve been there twice in seven years, and it’s just not fun” missing out.
Despite Walker’s desire to make the playoffs, it doesn’t sound as though he wants to leave Charlotte:
Walker considers Charlotte home, and is building a dream house here. He said Monday, “Hopefully, I’ll be here for a long time.”
Walker certainly made no guarantees that he would stick around in Charlotte for the remainder of his career, though:
“Whenever we get a new GM, we’ll see what direction he wants to go,” Walker said, “and I’ll make the best decision for me.”
With Rich Cho soon to be out as GM, Mitch Kupchak is reportedly the frontrunner to take the helm in Charlotte.
The Hornets made the playoffs in 2016, but missed out last year and will fall short again this season. Furthermore, the Hornets have failed to advance past the first round of the postseason in the time since Walker was drafted.
