2018 consensus five-star recruit, Keldon Johnson ended his recruitment and committed to John Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats. Johnson, out of Oak Hill Academy in Virginia, is an explosive shooting guard who picked Kentucky over his three other finalists of Maryland, North Carolina State and Texas.
Johnson is ranked as the 14th overall prospect in the class of 2018 per 247 Sports and is ranked in the top 25 in all major recruiting services. He’ll be joining fellow five-star prospect point guard Immanuel Quickley to form a strong base for the 2018 class.
The following from Scout.com’s Evan Daniels:
“He’s a high-level scorer. He’s a high-level competitor. He’s aggressive. He attacks. He plays hard with very good energy. He competes on the defensive end, and he’s a really good athlete. He’s going to be a terrific college player. I’d like to see him improve on his long-distance shooting, but he’s still capable of making shots. I love watching him play just because of how hard he plays.”
The 6-6 shooting guard played for Boo Williams on the Nike EYBL circuit and was the team’s leading scorer at 20.7 points per game and rebounder at 8.5 per game. Johnson is as physically mature, fundamentally sound, high volume scorer that can score on all three levels.
