Kash Doll surprised more than a hundred soon to be mothers and fathers at the 7th Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Community Baby Shower. Held in east Detroit, the event strives to teach new parents about breastfeeding, infant mortality rates and much more.
In addition to surprising the soon to be parents, the Detroit native performed her hit record, “Ice Me Out”. After the event, the prominent musician spoke to the Michigan Chronicle about her decision to attend the event.
She said, “Knowing that a lot of women in Michigan listen to my music, I wanted to come here and give them a word so that they can birth healthy, beautiful babies.”
She added, “I’m a healthy adult because my mom breastfed me and I want our babies to be healthy as well. It starts from the womb, so I felt it was important to be here and talk to the pregnant women here.”
Attendees didn’t go home empty handed. Throughout the event, the Detroit Health Department, The Women’s Infant and Children Program and the Wayne County Community Action Agency raffled off diapers, cribs and much more.
As Kash Doll says, “I will always use my platform and all that I have to offer in a positive light.”
