Ted Lasso actress Juno Temple may be inching toward a bittersweet end to her time with the critically-acclaimed Apple series, but it appears that she has already found her next big role. Temple will reportedly co-star alongside Tom Hardy in the third Venom film from Sony and Marvel. Details regarding the character that Temple may play are being kept under wraps along with the plot, but Marvel and Sony have teased longtime writer Kelly Marcel’s transition into the director’s chair.
As previously mentioned, Temple currently plays the role of Keeley Jones in a series so popular that the cast got invited to the White House. However, her acting exploits don’t end there. In addition to starring in Ted Lasso, she has also appeared in Fargo, The Dark Knight Rises and Drunk History. Her next role will prove to be a bit of a challenge as the reviews of the last Venom film were a bit less than kind.
“The viewing experience is like going to a nightclub and having someone scream the plot in your ear over a thumping bass line — ironic, given that Venom’s biggest weakness is sound waves,” David Sims of The Atlantic said about 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
“It is mostly noisy and flimsy and without purpose, a hasty response to the original’s unexpected success and little else. Naturally, a third film is advertised at the end,” Richard Lawson of Vanity Fair added.
If the Ted Lasso star can score a goal in her Marvel debut, then it would not only be a massive win for her, but it would uplift one of the most criticized properties under the Marvel content umbrella. Only time will tell as the project slowly inches toward production.
