The New Orleans Pelicans have waived forward Josh Smith.
Wait, didn’t they, like, just sign him?
Yep. On Oct. 25, the New Orleans Pelicans signed Smith with the injury hardship exception they received from the NBA. It seemed a fairly logical move at the time. Smith obviously has many holes in his game, but he provides size on the wing, which the Pelicans don’t really have. Plus, he played high-school ball with Pelicans point guard Rajon Rondo. I guess it didn’t work out as well in practice. After playing just 12 total minutes for New Orleans, Smith has been waived, reports Shams Charania:
Sources: New Orleans has released veteran forward Josh Smith, who signed Oct. 28 under a hardship exception.
