According to an announcement from CBS, ‘The Twilight Zone’ is getting rebooted for it’s CBS All Access streaming platform. While this news is exciting on its own, it is only amplified due to the announcement of the team who is behind the reboot. Simon Kinberg, Daredevil showrunner Marco Ramirez and the one and only Jordan Peele will be shepherding the new project. This while unexpected, should not really come as that much of a surprise due to the runaway success of Netflix’s ‘Black Mirror‘ series. Which is basically a darker and more modern version of the original Twilight Zone series.
With no disrespect to the other two producers involved, the majority of the excitement surrounding this project has had to do with the involvement of Jordan Peele. Peele has had a truly remarkable year after the record-breaking success of his first feature film ‘Get Out‘ earlier this year. The lasting impact that film has had on our culture has been truly astounding. Furthermore, the content in that film was very Twilight Zone-esque and while the first iteration’s of the show did tackle some social issues with Peele attached it’s nearly certain that aspect will be amplified, and it is the perfect time for it. Let’s just hope that the show can reach a wide enough audience due to the somewhat limited streaming platform that it will debut on.
Stay tuned for more details on ‘The Twilight Zone’ as they develop.
