Warner Bros. has found a new director for its Jonny Quest movie. LEGO: Batman director Chris McKay has signed on to direct. Jonny Quest first aired on ABC in 1964.
The series followed Jonny and his father as they go on missions around the world. Jonny’s best friend Hadji, his dog Bandit, and a government agent named Race Bannon accompany Jonny and his father on their missions.
The show only lasted for a season in its original run but has lived on through syndication and revivals over the years. However, Jonny has never been able to break through onto the big screen. It was announced in 2010 that Zac Efron was attached to star as the titular hero but it seems like that fell apart. Most recently, Robert Rodriguez was attached to direct in 2015 but production news has been quiet since.
McKay is best known for his work on the Adult Swim series Robot Chicken before he made his directorial debut last year with LEGO: Batman. He was announced as director of a Nightwing film but nothing has come of that so far.
Jonny Quest has no release date yet.
