With Sundance starting in a couple days, we’ve begun to get our first looks at some of the films that will be debuting at the annual festival. ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot’ falls firmly into the aforementioned category.
The film bolsters an all-star cast in a story that if it wasn’t based on a true story, would be fairly hard to believe. After John Callahan (Joaquin Phoenix) is in a debilitating accident, he is forced by those closest to him to confront his drinking. After he enters treatment, he encounters an eccentric band of characters that help him see that there is more to life than drinking. The performances in the film look to be outstanding, which is no surprise when you consider that Gus Van Sant is the filmmaker behind the camera.
We’ve attached the full synopsis and trailer for ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot’ below.
‘John Callahan has a lust for life, a knack for off-color jokes, and a drinking problem. When an all-night bender ends in a catastrophic car accident, John wakes up to the reality of being confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. In his journey back from rock bottom, his honesty and wicked sense of humor turn out to be his saving grace, as he makes friends with an oddball AA group, finds that love is not beyond his reach, and develops a talent for drawing irreverent and sometimes shocking cartoons.’ Via Amazon
