During a recent interview with People, actor John Boyega talked openly about a recent conversation he had with Jamie Foxx. Foxx dealt with a medical emergency earlier this year, but his co-star in Netflix’s They Cloned Tyrone says that he is doing well.
He finally picked up the phone. Thank you, bro. He’s doing well. And then, you know, we just giving him the privacy, and we can’t wait for his return,” he said.
“I gave him the well wishes directly. I gave him all the well wishes. So I’m just gonna be waiting until he comes back out here. So take your time, Jamie. We love you, bro.”
Boyega is not the only member of the film’s cast and crew to speak with Foxx following his medical emergency earlier this year. They Cloned Tyrone Producer Datari Turner also said that Foxx was on the road to recovery.
“He’s doing amazing. I promise you. Doing really, really good,” Turner said.
“[Director] Juel [Taylor] talked to him yesterday. John Boyega talked to him yesterday. He’s in really, really good shape and spirits. And he’ll be back on the screen. He’ll be back to work very soon.”
Foxx’s loved ones have not provided any details regarding the extent of the medical emergency, but his daughter, Corinne, did inform his fans in April that he had been hospitalized and was recovering. Weeks later, she returned to dispel rumors regarding her father’s condition and said that he had been “out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating.”
Foxx continues to move down the path to recovery while Netflix prepares to release his latest film, They Cloned Tyrone, in mid-July.
