
Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid has suffered a torn ligament in his hand according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Embiid will undergo surgery and then be re-evaluated in 1-2 weeks.

Sixers head coach Brett Brown acknowledged the injury and said he is not sure if Embiid will really miss the “foreseeable future”.

Embiid is no stranger to injuries, though they are normally related to his knees. This is a hand injury and the initial prognosis is simply…eventually he will come back. Brown does anticipate hearing more information soon, though.

Philadelphia did sign Al Horford this offseason, so they are equipped to handle Embiid’s absence some. But there is really no way to fully replace one of the NBA’s best centers.
