Jennifer Lawrence will reportedly star in The Wives, a murder mystery in the vein of The Real Housewives franchise. Apple Original Films has acquired the film with Lawrence, Justine Ciarrocchi, Josh Godfrey and Jeremy O. Harris set to produce. Pulitzer Prize finalists Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley have also been attached the film as writers. The film is currently in development, but there is no word as to when filming will begin.
Lawrence is no stranger to working with Apple Original Films. Previously, she starred in Causeway with Atlanta‘s Brian Tyree Henry two years ago. More recently, she appeared in No Hard Feelings with Andrew Barth Feldman. Her character, Maddie, is on the verge of losing her home when she “finds an intriguing job listing: helicopter parents looking for someone to bring their introverted 19-year-old son out of his shell before college.” The film was described as “wildly problematic” and finished fourth at the box office behind Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, Elemental and The Flash.
Lawrence returns to the big screen for the second time after giving birth to her first child with art dealer Cooke Maroney. According to IMDb, The Wives is one of seven projects that her name has been attached to. She’s set to star in Burial Rites, a film about a woman charged with murder and sent to an isolated farm to await execution, and East of Eden, a a fateful reenactment of Cain and Abel.
