Jake Paul will not share the ring with Tyson Fury’s younger brother, Tommy, on December 18. He is unable to compete later this month due to an unidentified illness. Instead, he will share the ring with a man who he is quite familiar with. His name is Tyron Woodley.
“The Fury’s have pulled out of the fight due to a ‘medical condition,'” Paul told ESPN.
“I couldn’t believe the news at first. It doesn’t even seem real. He fumbled the biggest bag of his life, now he’ll be watching at home paying me $60 instead of getting paid millions of dollars to fight me.”
Woodley and Paul first fought in Cleveland at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in August. The YouTube star turned boxer prevailed and earned a unanimous decision. In their second fight, Paul believes he can knock Woodley out despite being stumbled in the fourth round.
“When my team woke me up on Friday to tell me Tommy [Fury] was pulling out, I told them I’m ready to fight anyone on Dec. 18. Troy, Trey, Trevor, Travis. I don’t give a damn who it is,” Paul continued.
“So, as I predicted Tommy Fumbles and Tyron is there to pick it up, stepping in, and contractually he is getting an extra $500,000 if he knocks me out. First time I outboxed him. This time I’m gonna punish him and leave no doubt.”
The second fight in their ongoing feud is set for December 18 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Former NBA star Deron Williams and former NFL running back Frank Gore are still scheduled to fight on the undercard. Not to be forgotten, Amanda Serrano will return to the ring against Miriam Gutiérrez. The event will be available for purchase via Showtime pay-per-view.
