It appears that YouTube star-turned boxer Jake Paul has found his next opponent. In his fourth professional fight, he will share the ring with former UFC champion Tyron Woodley. Mike Coppinger of The Athletic first broke the news on May 31 via Twitter.
“Jake Paul and former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley have agreed to a deal for a boxing match. Jake recently signed a multi-fight deal with Showtime. [A] Friday face-off in Miami [has been] planned to promote the event. Paul coming off [a] first-round knockout of Ben Askren,” Coppinger tweeted.
Paul and Woodley first came in to contact during the build-up to Paul’s last fight against former UFC fighter Ben Askren. Woodley, Askren’s former college teammate, worked Askren’s corner. Along the way, Woodley expressed that he felt Paul was being disrespectful to UFC fighters during press conferences and on social media. Over time, a feud built up and now it will be settled in a boxing ring.
At this time, it is unclear when or where the fight will take place. However, Paul has reportedly signed a deal with Showtime, so the fight will likely be aired on the network. More details will be reported as they become available.
