It appears that boxing fans will be treated to an amazing show in Ireland next year. Earlier today, Jake Paul confirmed that Amanda Serrano has agreed to go to Ireland to challenge Katie Taylor for the undisputed lightweight title in 2023.
“MVP [and I] are negotiating with Eddie Hearn & Matchroom to get [Amanda Serrano] the fights she deserves. Amanda’s priority is to be the [first] undisputed Puerto Rican champ. If [and] when she achieves that, she’s agreed to go to Ireland to fight Katie Taylor in front of 80,000 Irish fans,” Paul tweeted in response to a Boxing Scene article.
Before Serrano heads to Ireland, she hopes to fight Erika Cruz for the undisputed featherweight title. A deal has not yet been finalized, but early reports suggest the fight will take place on February 4, 2023 in New York, New York. However, it is unclear if the bout will take place at Madison Square Garden, Barclays Center or another venue.
“Cruz First, then Ireland for Taylor. Sign Me Up,” Serrano tweeted.
If Serrano gets by Cruz in February, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing expects the bout to take place in April or May.
“April or May, it will be Katie’s next fight,” Hearn told IFL TV last month.
In the event all goes according to plan, it would be the first women’s title fight to take place in Ireland.
