Jake Paul is set to return to the ring on August 5, 2023 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The “Problem Child” is scheduled to fight combat sports staple Nate Diaz in a 185-pound catchweight bout. The highly-anticipated showdown will be broadcast on DAZN.
“Besides Canelo he’s the biggest thang in boxing. I’m here to conquer that. I’m the King of combat sports and then I’m headed back to get my UFC belts,” Diaz said of Paul.
“I fucked up Conor for acting out and now here I am again, like a Super Hero of the Real Fight game, the King of the Real Fight game.”
Diaz is a soon-to-be 38-year-old mixed martial arts veteran with more than 20 years of experience. The Stockton, California native rose to national prominence through his time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) from 2007 through 2022. During his time with the promotion, he won the Ultimate Fighter 5 Tournament and earned “Fight of the Night” honors eight times. Most notably, he upset Conor McGregor to win the main event at UFC 196 in 2016.
Diaz’s opponent, Jake Paul, is a 26-year-old Ohio native with a professional boxing record of 6-1 with four knockouts. He suffered his first defeat at the hands of Tommy Fury in February at Diriyah Arena in Saudia Arabia. Fresh off of his first defeat, the 26-year-old aims to get back on the winning track in his next bout.
“My team wanted me to take an easy fight like KSI next, but that’s not how I am built. Nate Diaz is considered one of the most bad-ass fighters of all time, but he and his team have been running their mouths for too long,” Paul said.
“People tell me Nate has been training with Andre Ward for years. That he has insane stamina. That he refuses to back down. Good for fucking Nate. I haven’t forgotten about the slap backstage in Arizona, and on August 5th, a Problem Child is going to piece up and knock out the Stockton G.”
