Jahvon Quinerly, a former five-star recruit, and Villanova Wildcat was denied his appeal to play immediately at Alabama this season. Quinerly transferred to Alabama this past offseason after a rocky freshman season at Villanova. That season included posting an Instagram story saying “was my second choice for a reason.” Quinerly originally committed to Arizona in high school before the FBI scandal broke with Arizona’s name involved. He then committed to Villanova soon after where he never seemed to earn coach Jay Wright’s trust last year.

Quinerly will now sit out the rest of the season after the NCAA Committee for Legislative Relief’s decision. He also visited Pittsburgh while deciding where to transfer while Oregon and Oregon State were both considered.
He came into Villanova with a lot of hype that he never truly lived up to. He was the seventh-ranked point guard in his class in a class stacked with many elite ones.
Watching how Alabama is able to contend in his absence will be an interesting follow. The Crimson Tide has a new coach in Nate Oats this season replacing Avery Johnson.
