Def Jam has reportedly cleared Jadakiss’ “Who Shot Ya” freestyle and it will head to streaming services in the near future. Daily Rap Facts shared the news on Hip-Hop’s 48th birthday via Twitter.
Jadakiss’ performance of the freestyle during the most recent Verzuz battle reignited appreciation for the track from younger audiences. Moving the song to streaming services would cement its legacy for generations to come.
Overall, Jadakiss and The Lox have had an exciting run throughout the past two weeks. Beginning with an incredible performance at Madison Square Garden, the group has announced a tour with Dipset, appeared on the most recent edition of Kanye West’s Donda and sat down for an interview with The Breakfast Club.
Meanwhile, Def Jam has had a successful run of its own as of late. Kanye West has hosted two listening sessions for his upcoming album, Rihanna reached billionaire status and Logic ended his brief retirement. Above all else, Tunji Balogun stepped in to become the label’s next CEO.
