UFC Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya will defend his title against Robert Whittaker on February 12 in Houston, Texas.
Adesanya and Whittaker fought once before in 2019 at UFC 243. Adesanya defend his title successfully by earning a second-round knockout. Since then, Adesanya has defended his title against Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori. The only loss of his career came in March when he challenged Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title in March. Meanwhile, Whittaker has bounced back with victories against Darren Till, Jared Cannonier and Kelvin Gastelum. Overall, he was won 12 of his 13 fights.
“But it’s really good to have that fight locked in now, to have that fight that I have worked so diligently towards, to have that date to try and get it [the title] back off him. That’s been my goal since losing to him, it’s always been to work my way back up and to get that second crack at him,” Whittaker told ESPN.
“So I’m really looking forward to it, I’m putting everything into it; every session has had that in mind. This is it.”
The UFC just sent out a press release to officially announce Adesanya vs. Whittaker 2 taking place in Houston at the Toyota Center on February 12.
