Iman Shumpert was signed to the Brooklyn Nets last month to combat their injury struggles but now doesn’t appear to be part of their plans going forward.
As reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Nets have waived Shumpert following a short 13-game stint in which the team was 9-4, but ultimately let the veteran guard walk for financial reasons.

The Nets roster this season has not approached their full potential following their massively successful offseason signings, with Kevin Durant out for the season and Kyrie Irving missing several games due to injury.
Having most recently played for the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings following his role in the Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship run, Shumpert averaged only 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in his short time with the Nets, but helped provide minutes for the depleted squad as he contributed 18.5 minutes each appearance.
The Nets currently sit in the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 13-11, as this season serves as a preamble to Kevin Durant’s anticipated return to the court next season.
