Image Comics‘ Chew is being adapted into an animated feature.
Felicia Day [The Guild] and Steven Yeun [The Walking Dead] have signed on to star in the animation, according to The Hollywood Reporter..
The series centers around Tony Chu [Yeun], a detective and ‘cibopath’ – a person who can read the history of anything he eats – living in a near future where poultry is illegeal following a tragic bird flu epidemic.
Day will play Chu’s love interest, food critic Amelia Mintz who is a ‘saboscrviner’ that can write so accurately about food, that readers feel that they can taste it.
Jeff Krelitz will direct, while Chew co-creator John Layman will write the script.
No word yet on a premiere date.
