To continue the press run for his upcoming film ‘Barbershop: The Next Cut’ which is the third installment, Ice Cube sits down with Ellen DeGeneres for a quick interview. During the interview, Ellen gets straight to the point and touches on Straight Outta Compton and its Oscars’ snub. While Cube surely would have wanted the film to be nominated, he admits that it doesn’t matter or in his words, ‘I wasn’t worried about no Oscars to be honest’. He feels as long as the films message was well received then that is all that matters to him. Ice Cube continued to speak on how he is just happy the film was done and he is proud of the work his son contributed along with all those involved as well. Next Ellen went on to congratulate Cube and NWA on their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction which transitioned into talking about Barbershop a bit more. Cube mentioned the purpose and real reason behind why ‘Barbershop: The Next Cut’ was necessary, especially with keeping things “authentic” for an everyday barbershop along with addressing how a father copes with owning a business and raising a son in the violence stricken Chicago.
