Travis Hunter will not return to the campus of Jackson State University next fall. Shortly after Jackson State University Head Coach Deion Sanders made the decision to leave his post in Mississippi in favor of a new job in Colorado, he indicated that he would follow him to Boulder.
“I’m coming coach,” Hunter reportedly said on Twitch as Sanders met with players in Boulder, Colorado.
“You won’t be having that next year — them boys better get right.”
Hunter has missed the majority of his freshman season with various injuries. Despite his medical challenges, he has accounted for seven pass deflections, two interceptions, one touchdown and a fumble recovery in his first year. Alongside Hunter, Shedeur Sanders is also expected to join Deion Sanders at Colorado next year. This season, he has accounted for 3,383 passing yards, six interceptions and 36 touchdowns.
The efforts of Sanders and Hunter along with their teammates have led the Jackson State Tigers to their first undefeated season in school history. On December 17, the Tigers will put their undefeated record on the line against the 2022 MEAC Champion North Carolina Central University Eagles in Atlanta, Georgia.
