Before Hugh Jackman burst onto the scene as Wolverine back in 2000’s X-Men, he was an acclaimed stage actor. Starring in the West End version of the world-famous stage play ‘Oklahoma’. His performance was so good in fact, that they made a professional recording of the play to sell on DVD and broadcast on Television. The Jackman version of Oklahoma has somewhat become the new standard for students that are studying the musical. While this phase of Jackman’s career is really only known by those who are extremely into musical theatre, it seems that Jackman is hellbent on letting the world know just how good he is in musical productions. He’s cranked out two wide release musicals so far in this decade and with playing Wolverine officially off of his plate, he could even make a few more before the decade draws to a close. ‘The Greatest Showman’ is perhaps his most accessible musical to date seeing as it’s core story encompasses an event that nearly everyone has experienced at one point or another, The circus. Jackman stars as P.T. Barnum who along with his jolly gang of misfits started what would become one of the worlds most celebrated yet maligned past times. The film boasts an all-star supporting cast as well, with four-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Zendaya and Rebecca Ferguson. ‘The Greatest Showman’ opens in theatres on December 20th, 2017.
