Ray Ban
Shamindi Wehalle

The American/Italian brand of eyewear and sunglasses has been around since 1936. Ray-Ban was created by an American company Bausch and Lomb. The company was well known for sunglasses like an aviator line of sunglasses. It’s no secret that Ray-Bans is one of the most popular sunglasses in the world. So it’s understandable that there are imitations of this kind of sunglasses.

But how would you be able to differentiate Original Ray-Ban glasses from the imitations? Shortly, we’ll be looking at some of the things to watch out for when you think of getting a pair of Ray-Ban next time. Without further ado, let’s get started. Shall we?

Quality

Authentic Ray-Bans are made in Italy. Also, these kinds of sunglasses are made up of high-quality materials.

However, when you look closely. Ranging from the weight of the materials to the finishing touches around the hinges. It shouldn’t be hard to tell the difference between genuine and fake Ray-Ban sunglasses. From the details of some of the aforementioned properties. You can simply check the quality by running your fingers around the frame of the glasses. It’s probably fake if you notice the frame is rough and snaggy.

Lenses

Ray-Ban lenses are of superior quality to the hinges. And the properties that made up the glasses. You can easily test the authenticity of Ray-Ban by taping the lens to see if it’s made of glass. As fake glasses are barely made of glass. However, tapping the lens is not enough to decide whether the Ray-Ban is authentic. You can also take note of the logo. All genuine have “RB” etched on the far left side of the left lens. But with the fake ones, the engravement is either missing or of poor quality. But if you choose Ray-Ban with a polarized lens. At the right lens, there should be “Ray-Ban P” written in the top corner. While “RB” is still etched on the left side of the left lens.

Hinges

All authentic Ray-Ban glasses have 7 barrel hinges. The silver color hinges have 7 interlocking loops that the bolts pass through. The unique hinges are made of solid metal which is securely bolted to the frame of the glasses with metal rivets.
On the other hand, it’s hard to see a fake Ray-Bans with hinges. Even when they do, the hinges won’t be neatly bolted to the frame as the authentic ones. It’s more likely that there are traces of glued or melted plastics on the hinges of the fake Ray-Ban

Ray-Ban serial numbers
The serial numbers on a pair of authentic Ray-Ban glasses can be found at the left temple arm of the glasses. The numbers start with “RB” and are carefully inscribed on the arms of the frame.

On the right arm, you should see a “Made in Italy” imprint and a CE mark. The CE mark does not only prove the genuity of the glasses. But also make certain that the glasses are capable of protecting your eyes from UV rays. However, please note that both the serial and the manufacturing numbers must be the same as the ones on the packaging. Therefore, if the Ray-Ban serial and manufacturing are not matching, it’s most likely fake glasses.

Nose Pads

What do we mean by Nose Pads?

They are small plastic cushions under the bridge of the nose. The cushions sit on your nose thereby supporting the glasses on your face. Nose pads provide comfort whenever you are rocking a pair of glasses. The tiny attachment holding the nose pads in place is also known as pad arms.

Although most Ray-Ban metal glasses have see-through nose pads. The nose pads have the Ray-Ban logo etched in the center of the glasses. Only a few metal Ray-Ban glasses have nose pads that are pale peach color. But if you look closely you’ll easily spot the etched Ray Ban logo.

It’s hard to find a fake Ray-Ban with these aforementioned nose pads.

Packaging

Authentic Ray-Ban comes with an authentic Ray-Ban casing that protects them from getting scratch. However, different Ray-Ban designs come with all kinds of cases. Ray-Ban glasses come with a black or brown leather case. The case has the Ray-Ban logo etched on it. Also, the case has a branded cleaning cloth.

Counterfeit Ray-Ban glasses barely come with such aforementioned details.

Where You Can Get Authentic Ray-Ban Glasses

Even when you take note of everything mentioned above. You can still fall victim to counterfeit Ray-Ban glasses. This is why intending buyers must be careful about where they purchase Ray-Ban glasses.

Therefore, it is advisable to only buy from a registered dealer licensed to sell authentic Ray-Ban glasses.

However, at Over Night Glasses, you can easily get your authentic Ray-Ban glasses. All you need to do to purchase this eyewear includes:
