R&B and Rap are taking center stage throughout the world of sports this summer. Later this month, Fat Joe and Jack Harlow are set to perform during 2023 MLB All-Star Weekend. One week later, Kehlani will take the stage in Washington, D.C. during the 2023 MLS All-Star Weekend festivities. In between both of those performances, H.E.R. is set to grace the stage during the 2023 ESPY Awards. The California native is expected to perform “The Journey” in tribute to the late, great college basketball coaching legend Jimmy Valvano. The sports-centric award show will kick off on Wednesday, July 12, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
H.E.R. will not only perform at the 2023 ESPY Awards. She is also set to host and headline the 2023 Lights On Festival in Mountain View, California on September 16-17, 2023 at Shoreline Festival Grounds. The live celebration of rhythm, flow and lyrics will feature Jazmine Sullivan, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Don Toliver, Toosii, Smino, Syd, Alina Baraz and many others. Soulection will also provide sounds via the stylings of Andre Power and Esta.
H.E.R.’s live performances will set her up for what will be her biggest theatrical performance this winter. The chart-topping musician is set to play the role of Squeak in the latest production of The Color Purple on December 25, 2023.
