After spending much of the 2021 season in New Jersey due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Professional Fighters League is spreading its wings in 2022. In late April and early May, the PFL hosted bouts in Arlington, Texas. Now, the league is heading down to the city where Outkast, Jermaine Dupri and Usher made magic happen. PFL 4, PFL 5, and PFL 6 are set to take place at OTE Arena in Atlanta, Georgia from June 17 through July 1.
“The stakes continue to rise on the road to the PFL Playoffs live from OTE Arena in Atlanta,” PFL CEO Peter Murray said in a press release.
“The PFL’s unique season format makes each fight a must win and delivers the best MMA action to the millions of fans around the world.”
Celebrating the league’s stay in Atlanta, heavyweight contenders Bruno Cappelozza and Matheus Scheffel will headline PFL 5 on June 24. Cappelozza is seeking to defend his 2021 PFL Heavyweight Championship by earning his second victory of the 2022 season. Not long ago, Cappelozza stopped Stuart Austin in the first round to earn six points. In contrast, Scheffel dropped his first bout this season and will need a stoppage win to earn a playoff spot.
“The PFL athletes delivered a thrilling first half of the 2022 PFL Regular Season,” Ray Sefo of the PFL said.
“As PFL Playoffs approach each fighter is looking earn their spot. At PFL 5, the Heavyweights and Featherweights will take to the SmartCage in hopes to make their dreams become a reality.”
