Alright, DC may actually be back on track now. Aquaman and Shazam! started an upward trend for the studio and though it’s not connected to the other films, Joker looks set to blow everyone away and continue that trend. After that, it’ll be Harley Quinn’s time to shine apparently as DC and Warner Bros. dropped the first full trailer for Birds of Prey on Tuesday via the film’s official Twitter.
The film follows Margot Robbie’s Quinn as she tries to find new meaning after her and Jared Leto’s Joker break-up. Shortly after the break-up, a young girl named Cassandra Cain finds a diamond that belongs to the kingpin known as Black Mask. Cain turns to Quinn for help, who then teams up with Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to help protect her.
We honestly don’t see much of the plot in this first trailer though. That’s because although it’s a Birds of Prey movie, the main character is undoubtedly Harley Quinn. So, most of the trailer is spent catching up with her and seeing what kind of ridiculous action she’ll get up to in this movie. The thing that’s got me the most excited here is Quinn’s pet hyenas. Yesterday’s posters teased their inclusion and this trailer confirms that they will be appearing in live-action for the first time. Otherwise, there’s so much to unpack that you’re better off just watching it because I won’t do it justice.
Check out the trailer below:
Robbie stars alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco, Ali Wong, and Ewan McGregor.
Birds of Prey (And The Fabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set to hit theaters on February 7th, 2020.
