Devin Haney will say goodbye to the lightweight division. After beating Vasyl Lomachenko to retain the undisputed lightweight title, he has reportedly made the decision to challenge super lightweight champion Regis Prograis. The clash of champions is set to take place on October 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“That bread better be right,” Prograis tweeted after news of the matchup hit the press.
“You don’t want this sh*t. You know you already got a contract with Eddie with numbers to fight me. Don’t get to acting stupid, bumb a** n*gga,” Haney replied.
Devin Haney has spent the last year under the Top Rank banner. He dethroned George Kambosos Jr. in his home country of Australia to capture the undisputed lightweight title. After defending the belt in a rematch, he beat Vasyl Lomachenko in a hotly contested bout. Now, he’ll move back over to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing for a clash with Regis Prograis.
Regis Prograis is one of the latest additions to Hearn’s promotional imprint. The New Orleans native made his Matchroom Boxing debut in June against Danielito Zorrilla. After earning a split-decision victory against Zorrilla, he will enter the biggest fight of his career.
