Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor are not the only fighters looking to compete for an undisputed lightweight title later this year. On May 20, 2023, Vasyl Lomachenko will reportedly challenge Devin Haney for the undisputed lightweight title at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The title bout will headline a pay-per-view event broadcasted by ESPN+.
Haney holds a record of 29-0 with 15 knockouts. He stopped Zaur Abdullaev in the fourth round of their 2019 bout to claim the interim WBC Lightweight Championship. Three years later, he beat George Kambosos Jr. twice to claim and retain the undisputed lightweight title.
Lomachenko has amassed a professional record of 17-2 with 11 knockouts. The Ukrainian fighter held the undisputed lightweight title when Haney won his interim title back in 2019. However, Teofimo Lopez beat Lomachenko to gain the undisputed title in 2020. Since then, the veteran fighter has beaten contenders Jamaine Ortiz, Richard Commey and Masayoshi Nakatani to gain another shot at the title.
Details regarding the undercard will be unveiled as the championship fight nears.
