Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis Explains How He Developed A Friendship With Lil’ Baby

Gervonta “Tank” Davis has undoubtedly become one of the most notable fighters in the sport of boxing. From Los Angeles to New York, the Baltimore native has attracted thousands of fans to his fights at iconic venues like the Barclays Center, Crypto.com Arena and State Farm Arena. Along the way, some of the biggest names in entertainment have shown support, including Meek Mill and Drake. Even Maryland Governor Wes Moore was in attendance when the Baltimore native fought Héctor Luis García. Through it all, one notable artist has shown up time and time again to support the knockout puncher — Lil’ Baby. The Atlanta artist helped walk Davis to the ring when fought Mario Barrios in Atlanta. He was also in attendance when Davis fought earlier this year. During a recent interview, the WBA “Regular” Lightweight Champion explained how he and the chart-topping artist became friends.

“You mentioned Lil’ Baby. [He] is someone you are seeming close with. How did you and [Lil’] Baby connect in the first place?” Complex’s Speedy Morman asked.

“He was actually…we were both coming up at the same time. I was [also] running through Atlanta as both of us were coming up, so I would see him in clubs and stuff like that. He would pull up in his car and I would pull up in my car type sh*t and we would salute each other. So, [there] was also mutual respect.”

This Saturday, Davis will participate in the most highly-anticipated fight of his career. Unbeaten lightweight contender Ryan Garcia is set to challenge the hard-hitting lightweight on April 22 in Las Vegas at T-Mobile Arena. It’s unclear which musical act will walk with Davis to the ring, but it could very well be Lil’ Baby.
