Former NBA player Malik Rose has found a new landing spot in his NBA life, and it’s with a different team but with a familiar face in NBA head coach of the year Mike Budenholzer. Rose will work closely with the Hawks head coach closely as Rose accepted a position in the basketball operations department.
Recently Malik Rose has been working as a color commentator for the Philadelphia 76ers and also co-hosted a show with Frank Isola on Sirius XM. Rose will join a Hawks organization that looks to have the blueprint of the San Antonio Spurs.
Oddly enough Malik Rose spent a little over seven out of his thirteen seasons of his career in San Antonio which he did win two championships with the team. Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer was an assistant coach in Rose’s time with the Spurs.
Rose played 13 years in the NBA averaging 6 points and 4 rebounds in his career as a serviceable big off the bench. Budenholzer became the president of basketball operations back in June and currently looking to fill a few pieces in the front office.
Mike Budenholzer is bringing in Malik Rose as a former player who can study the game and evaluate talent which will more than likely be a large part of his duties.
Malik Rose turned down former Spur Avery Johnson for a spot on his coaching staff at the University of Alabama which might look like the right decision for the time being.
