
Last month, millions of Americans were impacted by a surge of fatal storms across eight U.S. states. Nearly 100 people were reportedly killed and many more were left without places to sleep. While many were struggling to take the first step on the road to recovery, President Joe Biden and several officials left the nation’s capital to meet with victims of the storm Weeks later, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden is traveling to Kentucky in order to do the same. As a reported by The Hill, Dr. Biden will meet travel through some of the hardest hit areas as well as visit a FEMA State Disaster Recovery Center.
“First Lady Jill Biden and Deputy FEMA [Federal Emergency Management Agency] Administrator Erik Hooks will travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky where they will join Governor Andy Beshear and First Lady Britainy Beshear to survey recovery efforts following the devastation from recent tornadoes,” the White House stated.
“The First Lady will highlight the partnership between federal and local agencies that ensures Kentuckians are receiving the aid and relief they need.”
According to multiple reports, the twisters that ripped through eight U.S. states caused upwards of $15 billion in damage. President Joe Biden has vowed to help out with any and all costs tied to rebuilding efforts.
