This weekend, the vintage tee collection of a hypebeast’s dreams launched and was sold out soon after. The collaboration between Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God and Peter Matamoros’ Chapel NYC is made up of short-sleeved and long-sleeved tees and tanks. The collection was aptly named “Chapel of God.” The garments feature 65 different designs and a range of music artists. You’ll find a mix of Metallica, Nirvana, Tupac, Prince, and more. “Chapel of God” launched at Maxfield in Los Angeles.
You may recall Fear of God for its hand in the designs of Kanye West’s Yeezy line. Or maybe you familiarize it with the uproar Justin Bieber caused when he wore a customized version of the label’s Nirvana tee on the red carpet. Chapel NYC is a new vintage shop set to launch July 14th. It was only right for this collaboration to happen with Jerry Lorenzo’s love for vintage t-shirts reflected in his own line. The tees and tanks for “Chapel of God” are one-of-a-kind pieces. Each garment is printed with the “Chapel of God” custom label. The prices were pretty hefty which comes as no surprise. Lorenzo has stated before that he would willingly drop $400 for a vintage tee.
Customers at the launch received a limited edition selvedge denim tote with their purchase. The collection is sold out but you can have a look at “Chapel of God” in its entirety here.
