Last year the Cleveland Browns passed on the opportunity to draft potential franchise quarterback Carson Wentz. That proved to be a mistake after Wentz had a productive rookie year and showed that he has a great NFL future. (The Browns also drafted Cody Kessler ahead of Dak Prescott…..). However, one NFL executive recently claimed that top available quarterback Mitch Trubisky is going to be better than Wentz.
There is a growing buzz that Trubisky will be taken in the first 3 picks of the 2017 NFL Draft. If Cleveland wants to take the Cleveland native Trubisky, they may have to do so with the number one overall pick. In my latest mock draft, I had them selecting Trubisky first overall. Deshaun Watson and DeShone Kizer are the other quarterbacks they could select in the first round. For those who don’t know I have Trubisky pegged to be a big time bust.
Of course, selecting Trubisky would probably a huge mistake. Myles Garrett is a once in a generational type of prospect. The Texas A&M prospect did recently request for the Cowboys to trade up for him so that may be something Cleveland has to think about.
