The fifth Shrek movie could pop up on the big screen sooner than expected. During a recent interview with Steve Weintraub of Collider, Eddie Murphy said he has already finished the first act.
“We started doing Shrek 4 or Shrek V months ago. I did this, I recorded the first act, and we’ll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. Shrek is coming out,” Murphy said.
However, the legendary entertainer didn’t stop there. He went on to mention that a Donkey-led spinoff film could be in the works.
“Donkey’s gonna have his own movie. We’re gonna do Donkey as well. So we’re gonna do a Shrek, and we’re doing a Donkey [movie],” he added.
In the meantime, Murphy will turn his attention to a modern installment of another fan-favorite franchise, Beverly Hills Cop. Starring alongside Taylour Paige and Kevin Bacon, he will reprise his role as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. In the first Beverly Hills Cop film in 30 years, Murphy’s character returns to settle things after his daughter’s life is threatened. The Netflix project is set to hit the internet on July 3, 2024.
