A student has reportedly shot and wounded two staff members at East High School in Denver, Colorado. According to Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas, the shooting occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. on March 22, 2023 and authorities were able to arrive on the scene shortly thereafter. However, the student believed to be responsible for the shooting fled before authorities could take them into custody.
“We are looking for the suspect,” Denver Mayor Michael Hancock said.
“We will find that suspect, and we will hold that suspect accountable for his actions this morning in placing everyone in danger and certainly wounding the two staff members who were doing their job and trying to keep everyone safe at the time.”
At this time, one of the victims is believed to be stable while the other is reportedly in critical condition. A student also received medical attention due to an allergic reaction.
The suspected shooter is under the age of 18 and therefore, their identity has not yet been revealed by authorities. More details will be added to this report as they become available.
