The month of April for Draymond Green, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors was supposed to be the last step towards infamy on their road to the greatest single regular season in NBA history. 73 wins is on the horizon and the Warriors managed to fight through March with only two losses all month, now in the first week of April, the Warriors have lost twice in three games, both their first losses at home.
They lost to a playoff team in the Boston Celtics and that loss can is very warranted considering how hard the Celtics played the Warriors earlier in the season in Boston. The Warriors NBA record home win streak came to an end thanks to the C’s but just a few days later, the Warriors, playing a primetime game on TNT at home, was handed an overtime loss to the lottery bound Minnesota Timberwolves.
With many people looking for answers as to why the Warriors lost, Draymond Green gave some insight as to why the Warriors might be losing. They’re bored and ready to move on to the playoffs.
Following from ESPN’s Ethan Sherwood Strauss.
Asked whether the Warriors had gotten caught up in the hype of possibly setting an NBA record for wins in a season, Green responded, “Honestly? Yes.” Then he corrected, “I wouldn’t necessarily say caught up in the hype.”
Green also said the Warriors are ready for this particular segment of the season to finish.
“It’s human nature to where, all right, kind of ready for the regular season to end,” Green said. “Talking 82 games, we get bored with that after awhile. And that’s no excuse, just, I’m always give it to y’all real, and that’s about as real as I can be. It’s kind of at a point now where you’re ready for the regular season to be over.”
Green continued, “Now, saying that, we got to be a better enough ballclub to continue to try to get better with these games and try and go into the playoffs the right way and not stumble in the playoffs, so, think that’s something we have to focus on. We got to try to finish out this regular season strong.”
