Fresh off of the release of his latest album, Drake has made a few business moves. This week, he has become a minority owner of Dave’s Hot Chicken, a restaurant chain that mainly operates in California. With this move, the best-selling artist will join fellow minority owners Samuel L. Jackson and Boston Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner.
“I tried the food and it was amazing. After meeting the founders and hearing their story, I jumped at the opportunity to invest,” Drake said in a statement obtained by Bloomberg.
Drake’s connection to hot chicken does not come as much of a surprise. Through his music and interviews, the Toronto native has talked about spending time with his family in Memphis as a young kid. Not to mention, he appeared on the 2018 hit, “Look Alive,” with Blocboy JB and shot his “Worst Behavior” video there as well. While Memphis is primarily known for its BBQ, it is just a few hours away from the hot chicken capital known as Nashville.
To celebrate the investment, Drake posted a picture of himself eating some hot chicken on social media.
