The first-week sales projections for Drake’s latest album, Certified Lover Boy, are in. The GRAMMY winner is expected to move anywhere between 575,000 and 625,000 units of his latest work. Moreover, the album is projected to be streamed 650 million times during its first week. If projections hold, it will be the biggest debut so far this year.
Given the competitive relationship that has formed between Kanye West and Drake, many fans will compare the first week performances of Donda and Certified Lover Boy. Released last week, Donda has secured the top spot heading into this week with 327,000 units moved in one week. Of those 327,000 units, 44,311 were reportedly traditional sales. While it didn’t outsell Certified Lover Boy, it is his best first-week performance since Yeezus in 2013.
Moving forward, Drake has hinted at potentially releasing a deluxe version of the album in the near future. However, he has not announced a released date for album-related merchandise or any tour dates connected to Certified Lover Boy.
