Drake has not held back his criticism of the Recording Academy in the past, but it appears that one of his most recent albums may have been submitted for a Grammy Award nomination.
The Hollywood Reporter has reportedly learned that Drake and 21 Savage’s 2022 LP, Her Loss, has been submitted for consideration at the upcoming Grammy Awards. With that said, it is unclear if representatives of Drake, 21 Savage or their respective record labels submitted the project for consideration. Either way, it would not be the first time that a song or album that Drake contributed to has been submitted for consideration. Just last year, several tracks that he contributed to were nominated for Grammy Awards, including “Heated” by Beyoncé, “Churchill Downs” by Jack Harlow. Not to mention, “Who Told You?” by J Hus, “Meltdown” by Travis Scott and “Oh U Went” by Young Thug were submitted for Grammy Award consideration this year.
Drake is not the only Canadian superstar to have been at odds with The Recording Academy in recent year. His close collaborator, The Weeknd, has also expressed his dissatisfaction with the award show recently, but his 2022 song, “Nothing Is Lost,” has been submitted for consideration. Similarly, it is more likely than not that the song was submitted by those affiliated with Avatar: The Way of Water rather than The Weeknd.
