The lore of the “Drake Curse” lives on as the GRAMMY Award winner places a $545,000 wager on Alexander Volkanovski to win the UFC Featherweight Championship in the main event of UFC 314.
UFC fans are more than familiar with the Canadian hitmaker. In the past, he placed a $500,000 bet on Israel Adesanya to defeat Sean Strickland during the main event of UFC 293 and a $700,000 bet on Strickland to beat Dricus Du Plessis at the main event of UFC 297. Not to mention, he also bet $2 million on Adesanya to defeat Alex Pereira at UFC 281. While those three bets failed, he did bet $675,000 on Pereira to beat Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 and was proven to be right.
For what it’s worth, Volkanovski is the favorite to win the featherweight strap in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, April 12. After suffering back to back stoppage losses, Volkanovski enters the octagon as a slight favorite with -145 odds. With everything on the line, Volkanovski is confident that he’ll reign as champion once more.
“It’s good to be back! We back!” Volkanovski said. “Again, dangerous guy, but that strap is coming back with me. Let’s go!”
