With just a little over two weeks to go until we see the story of N.W.A grace movie theater screens with Straight Outta Compton, not only does anticipation rise, old and new fans alike are left wondering if there will be any new music to go along with the film’s release. Well, Ice Cube has put any curiosity to rest as he’s let it be known in a recent interview that Dr. Dre will be releasing a Straight Outta Compton-inspired album as early as this week.
“Dre is dropping an album inspired by the Compton movie. He’s dropping something on August 1.”
He also confirmed that the whole album would be released the same day. “It’s mega, it’s Dr. Dre, it’s what everybody’s been waiting for,” he said. “It’s definitely a dope record, and he’s dropping it all on the same day.”
This is exciting news for anyone who has been longing for new records from the Hip-Hop legend. While it is not in the from of his long-awaited, Detox, beggars can’t be choosers in this situation. For now, we can only hope that the record is as “mega” as Ice Cube has described it.
If you haven’t already, check out Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and the stars of Straight Outta Compton on the cover of The Hollywood Reporter. More importantly, be sure to make your way to the nearest theater on August 14 in support of the film’s release.
