DoorDash is now the official on-demand delivery service of the NBA, WNBA, and 2K League. The partnership was announced via an NBA Press Release.
As part of their partnership, DoorDash is launching the #PlayItForward challenge, a social media campaign geared toward uniting Black communities and supporting Black-owned restaurants. Athletes such as Ja Morant, Donovan Mitchell, Aaron Gordon, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have already made posts participating in the campaign.
“As part of the #PlayItForward Challenge, DoorDash will continue its commitment to support Black communities and donate $1, up to $100,000, to the National Urban League for every order placed from a Black-owned restaurant on the DoorDash platform through the end of August. DoorDash will also offer $0 delivery fees from all merchant partners in DoorDash’s program to support Black-owned businesses on DoorDash through the end of 2020.”

The NBA, currently in the midst of the 2020 Playoffs, has been participating in activism to help Black communities following the nation-wide protests against police brutality and racial injustice. Since the NBA restart, racial equality has been at the forefront, with several players donating money and establishing funds in order to provide resources to communities of color.
