On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Donald Trump addressed attendees of the National Prayer Breakfast at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. During the event, Trump vowed to “bring our country back together as one nation under God.”
“If we don’t have religious liberty, then we don’t have a free country. We probably don’t even have a country,” Trump said. “While I am in the White House, we will protect Christians in our schools, in our military, in our government, in our workplaces, hospitals, and in our public squares, and we will bring our countries back together as one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all.”
In order to fulfill his pledge to “bring our country back together as one nation under God,” Trump plans to establish a commission on religious liberty that “will work tirelessly to uphold this most fundamental right.” Also, Trump intends to appoint Attorney General Pam Bondi as the head of a task force designed to “eradicate anti-Christian bias.”
“[It will eradicate] all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government,” Trump said.
Before he was finished, Trump also announced his desire to create a White House Faith Office led Reverend Paula White. White has served as a religious adviser for Donald Trump throughout the years. Along the ways, she has received criticism in response to comments she has made, including backing Trump’s immigration policies and describing Black Lives Matter as the “anti-Christ.”
